Conservative Smokeshow of the Day

When I was 16, I volunteered for a local Republican campaign. I helped hand out flyers, made phone calls, and attended a few campaign events. It wasn't anything glamorous, but I thought it was really interesting to see how elections worked behind the scenes.

That experience made me realize how much of politics happens at the local level. Most of the volunteers weren't professional political people. They were just regular Americans who cared about their communities and wanted to make a difference.
