Impeachment Articles Introduced Against Key Trump Official

Republican Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky introduced eight articles of impeachment against Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth on Tuesday, escalating his dispute with the Trump administration over U.S. military operations. Massie formally presented the resolution on the House floor, accusing Hegseth of committing “high crimes and misdemeanors” through actions involving Iran, Venezuela, Yemen and military operations in the Caribbean.

The first three articles focus largely on the War Powers Resolution of 1973 and U.S. military involvement in Iran. Massie’s resolution alleges the administration is “waging the Iran war despite no declaration of war, statutory authorization, attack on the United States, or imminent threat.”

His first article argues “that the war was unlawful from its inception.”

A second article accuses Hegseth of continuing military operations after Congress directed the removal of U.S. forces from hostilities with Iran.

The third alleges Hegseth continued operations after the expiration of time limits established under the War Powers Resolution.

Massie also raised allegations concerning U.S. military operations against suspected drug traffickers in the Caribbean. Two of the impeachment articles accuse Hegseth of failing to minimize civilian casualties and participating in unauthorized lethal operations.

One article specifically accuses Hegseth of “replacing maritime law enforcement with unauthorized lethal military targeting of suspected drug traffickers.”

Another impeachment article focuses on the January U.S. operation that resulted in Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, being captured and removed from Caracas.

Massie characterized that operation as the “Kidnapping of a Sovereign Foreign Leader” and alleged that it was conducted “without constitutional or legal authority.”

The resolution also raises Hegseth’s actions involving Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona. Massie accused Hegseth of improperly using his government authority against Kelly following a video in which the senator and other lawmakers discussed the responsibility of military personnel when confronted with unlawful orders.

The eighth article concerns U.S. military activity in Yemen. Massie alleged that Operation Rough Rider was launched without congressional authorization or an imminent threat to the United States.

That article also includes allegations involving civilian deaths, strikes on civilian targets and compliance with congressional war-powers reporting requirements.

Massie spent more than an hour presenting the impeachment articles on the House floor before delivering his closing argument against Hegseth.

“In all of this, Secretary Hegseth abused the powers entrusted to him as Secretary of Defense by subordinating the constitutional limits on the use of military force and the laws governing the conduct of hostilities to his own policy objectives,” Massie said.

Massie further argued that Hegseth’s conduct “warrants impeachment and trial, removal from office and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust or profit under the United States.”

The impeachment push represents another dispute between Massie and the Trump administration over presidential authority to conduct military operations without explicit congressional approval.

Massie has repeatedly argued that Congress must authorize continued U.S. military involvement in conflicts such as the fighting in Iran.

The Pentagon has defended Hegseth. Massie’s resolution now puts his allegations before the House as lawmakers consider his effort to remove one of President Donald Trump’s Cabinet officials.

I don’t care for Massey. He’s a troublemaker anyway. Everybody thinks Iran is such a wonderful place they hate us. I don’t think for one minute they wwould not attack us. You know what they say. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

Massie is just throwing temper tantrums because his constituents saw through his “Tucker Carson style attitude shift” jumping to the left and he got dumped after a long and credible tenure in Congress. He’s just getting back at the President and his home constituents with an, “Vote me out, I’ll show you!” attitude. Sad for such a fall by a former trustworthy Congressman. Stuff happens.

It’s not the Iranian people, it’s the Islamist government over decades that have been attacking us and the world in Jihadi attacks, the radical muslims. The Iranian people have been given hope after 47 years of possible freedom from the murderous Islamists. There have been many videos of grateful Iranians thanking us and the President. They’re not the problem. The radical Mullahs, the Muslim Clerics who are the deranged leaders of that former Country of Persia if my history memory is correct.

Massie, your party the democratic party that birthed the Confederate states of America, should have been destroyed along with the Confederate states of America, and the union, should have converted to a 1 party Republican government, like president George Washington wanted from the beginning, but the idiots would not listen to him, if they would have listened to him, united we stand, no opposition party to go against progress, we would have had way back a long time ago a stronger military and a stronger economy and a stronger border wall of protection for our people, this open borders, we had under the Biden administration, was significantly the democratic party hate for America, every country guards their borders because they love their people, when trump came back to his 2nd term in office, border patrol got lucky and caught smugglers trying to smuggle a young native girl across the border and through interrogation we learned that these stolen sisters native and non native girls were being smuggle across the border and shipped around the world and sold as sex slaves, mostly to Islamic countries where it is secretly practice from us, the democratic party tells me that they have regime change yeah but a different kind of evil agenda, this giving away to other nations and illegals neglecting the needs of first nation people and the non native taxpayers is the works of the democratic party, some of these reservations have to boil there drinking water that should not be tolerated I believe that first nation people and the non native taxpayers should come first and only they be taken care of, this multi party government has lasted 250 years, by the grace of God, but now it is turned into a power struggle tug of war that will lead this nation to collapse of the United States Union, and I see it deteriating, its getting there the democratic party will be the culprit behind the collapse, in many ways by their actions, during Carter’s administration, the democratic party exploited the iranian people of their oil, they cause the iranian hostage crisis, and Carter was wrong, it was not place to weaken our, there was a Republican the next best president we had since, in Theodore Roosevelt was brilliant man a united States president with a Bigfoot encounter story also, he was the one that conducted and mapped out the Panama canal, then Carter came along and gave our Panama canal away, weakening the revenue of our nation’s economy taking away our toll revenue from us, the Republicans give, the democratic party give away from the Americans, then bill Clinton, he signed the NAFTA contract sending American jobs overseas, his motive was cash under the table deal laundering that money clean, then he put so many corporate taxes on our nation’s car companies that they had no choice but to go overseas to survive another cash under the table deal laundering that money clean, when I heard about the uranium one deal I was hoping that would be misinformation,
