Ilhan Omar Sends Chilling Arabic Message

Photo 2 of 5: Obama DOJ Discovered Ilhan Omar's ‘Sham Marriage’
Federal investigators under former President Barack Obama's administration reportedly examined allegations that Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) entered into a fraudulent marriage with a man suspected of being her brother. According to The New York Times, six current and former federal officials familiar with the investigation said the FBI and Department of Homeland Security investigated Omar's 2009 marriage to British citizen Ahmed Nur Said Elmi in 2016. Investigators reportedly uncovered information raising questions about whether the two were siblings, but prosecutors declined to pursue charges because they believed the suspected offense fell outside the applicable five-year statute of limitations.
The disclosures have renewed scrutiny of allegations Omar has repeatedly dismissed as politically motivated conspiracy theories. Federal agents reportedly investigated whether the marriage was arranged to secure immigration benefits for Elmi. Two former officials said Elmi received a provisional two-year green card through the marriage but was later asked to provide additional documentation demonstrating that the relationship was legitimate. Rather than completing the process, Elmi reportedly left the United States and abandoned his permanent residency application. However, the specific evidence underlying investigators' suspicions has not been publicly disclosed, and no court has established that Elmi is Omar's brother.
