The selection of Katie Zacharia as her successor marks the beginning of a new chapter in Trump's communications operation. Zacharia will inherit a position shaped by Leavitt's public visibility and prominent exchanges with reporters, while facing the challenge of developing her own approach to representing the president before the national media.
For Leavitt, the transition represents another milestone in a political career that has already included work on Capitol Hill, a congressional campaign, two Trump administrations, and a leading role in a successful presidential election. Her move to Fox News will allow her to remain involved in national political discussions while pursuing a different balance between her professional and family responsibilities.
