FBI Agents Report Terrifying UFO Encounter in Newly Released Pentagon Files

Newly released Pentagon documents describe an unexplained encounter involving FBI agents who reported seeing a silent, black triangular object hovering above a mountain ridge before rapidly disappearing into a nearby canyon. The incident, which reportedly occurred in 2026, is among several unusual sightings detailed in government records concerning unidentified anomalous phenomena, commonly known as UFOs or UAPs.

According to the documents, witnesses described an aircraft-like object that appeared to operate without recognizable engines, propellers, exhaust systems or other conventional means of propulsion. The object reportedly rose vertically above the surrounding terrain, remained suspended in the air and then accelerated at an extraordinary speed without producing any noticeable sound.

An FBI account estimated that the dark, triangular object measured approximately 9 to 15 feet across. Its surface appeared nonreflective, and witnesses compared its general shape to that of a drone, although its reported movements differed considerably from those of ordinary aircraft.

A separate assessment prepared by the Pentagon’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) offered additional details about the sighting.

According to that report, the object climbed approximately 200 to 300 feet above a ridgeline before remaining nearly motionless for about 20 seconds.

Witnesses then reported that it accelerated into a canyon, disappearing from view within approximately two to three seconds.

Agents also described using handheld thermal equipment to observe the object. They reported detecting heat distributed evenly across its surface, without the concentrated thermal signatures ordinarily associated with aircraft engines.

However, investigators emphasized that the object’s reported speed was based on eyewitness observations rather than precise instrumental measurements.

The FBI and Pentagon accounts also differed in their descriptions of the encounter’s duration. The FBI reported an observation lasting roughly three seconds, while AARO documented a longer sequence involving the object’s ascent, hovering and departure.

Neither agency established what the object was or where it originated.

The latest government disclosure also included previously classified military reports dating back several decades, offering additional examples of unexplained aerial observations.

One document detailed a January 1957 incident involving an American B-52 bomber operating near Saudi Arabia. While flying at approximately 39,000 feet, the aircraft detected an unidentified radar target about 6,000 yards away.

The mysterious radar contact reportedly remained visible for five to seven minutes before disappearing as the bomber changed direction. Investigators acknowledged that the aircraft’s maneuver could have explained the loss of radar contact.

Another historical report concerned three Boy Scouts who claimed to have witnessed an unusual silver object near California’s Santa Catalina Island in June 1952. They described an apparently silent craft traveling at tremendous speed before seemingly breaking apart.

Military investigators questioned the reliability of that account because the witnesses lacked equipment to measure the object’s altitude or speed. A separate 1955 sighting near the same island involved a bright object that changed color while descending, which the Air Force classified as a “probable meteor.”

The newly disclosed material also included a 2010 investigation conducted by Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies at a Utah ranch associated with alleged paranormal activity. Residents described unusual lights, unidentified creatures and other unexplained experiences.

Some witnesses claimed to have encountered enormous dog-like animals walking upright, strange birds and an unusually large worm. Another person described a transparent, moving formation that she believed resembled a passage into another dimension.

Despite the extraordinary accounts, investigators did not establish evidence confirming the alleged creatures or supernatural activity. Laboratory examinations identified collected hair samples as belonging to familiar animals, including dogs and a raccoon. The Pentagon records likewise did not establish an extraterrestrial explanation for the reported aerial encounters.
