Leavitt delivered her first official White House press briefing on January 28, 2025, facing questions from reporters about the administration's early policy decisions. The appearance marked the beginning of a demanding assignment that would require her to communicate with journalists, coordinate messaging across government agencies, and respond to breaking developments involving the president.
The White House briefing room quickly became a major platform for Leavitt's public communications style. She frequently sought to redirect questions toward the administration's priorities while challenging what she viewed as misleading or unfair narratives surrounding Trump's decisions and political record.
