MS NOW’s Stephanie Ruhle on Fauci Hearing: ‘It Breaks My Heart… I Can’t Believe We’re Relitigating This’

On MS NOW’s “Money, Power, Politics,” host Stephanie Ruhle reacted emotionally to coverage of the Senate hearing featuring Dr. Anthony Fauci. Looking at panelist Dr. Sanjay Gupta, she said, “Just seeing your face this morning, Vin, it takes me back. It breaks my heart. I can’t believe we’re back here. I can’t believe we’re relitigating this in the way that we are.”
Network reporter Vaughn Hillyard argued that lived experience cannot be revised. He referenced his own grandmother’s death after contracting COVID in a nursing home and the more than one million American deaths. He described Republican questioning of Fauci as carrying “a certain level of arrogance” because it seemed to contradict the experiences of many families.
Ruhle expressed gratitude for Gupta’s presence during the original pandemic coverage and repeated her disbelief that the issues were being reopened. The segment captured a clear divide: one side sees the hearing as necessary accountability; the other views it as an unnecessary reopening of painful history. The emotional reaction underscored how raw the subject remains years later.
