Taylor Sheridan Just Crushed Hopes of Yellowstone Fans

Taylor Sheridan has spent years building the biggest television empire in America. Now he has told fans the one spinoff they have talked about the most is not coming.

The long-rumored “6666” series, centered on Jimmy at the Four Sixes Ranch in Texas, has been a favorite theory since the character left the Dutton ranch a changed man. Sheridan owns the real ranch. Part of Yellowstone was filmed there. That combination made a spinoff feel inevitable.

Sheridan said it is not. “There’s never going to be one,” he told interviewer Dale Brisby. “I would never fictionalize that ranch.”

He was blunt about why. Real cowboys work there. Families live there. Turning that place into another TV product, he said, would mean “trivializing and fictionalizing something where real people work and they raise their families there.” He added, “I could never do that to them.”

That answer undercuts years of fan speculation. Jimmy’s arc looked like a setup: a broken kid sent to Texas who leaves as a respected cowboy. Sheridan even said he has already pulled those scenes together on his computer. “It makes its own perfect little movie,” he said. That, in his view, is enough.

The refusal fits Sheridan’s larger posture toward Hollywood. He has called Los Angeles an “awful place” and built his shows around land, work, and people who still live by older rules. Fictionalizing his own ranch would clash with that brand.

The Yellowstone universe is not shutting down. Dutton Ranch already posted a strong first season. The prequel 1944 is still in development. Sheridan is expanding the world. He just will not expand it onto the Four Sixes as a weekly drama.

For fans who wanted Jimmy’s next chapter, the door is closed. Sheridan left them a compiled mini-movie of existing scenes and a hard line: the ranch stays real.
