Nancy Sinatra Calls to ‘Eliminate All Guns’ After Seattle Shootout That Wasn’t a Mass Shooting

Singer and actress Nancy Sinatra responded on X to reports of violence at Seattle Center by declaring, “Eliminate the guns. The founding fathers did not know about automatic weapons.” Her comment followed a post that labeled the incident a “mass shooting” and blamed the expiration of an earlier assault-weapons ban.

Local reporting showed the event was a shootout between at least two people during the Bite of Seattle food festival. Three people were killed and four injured. A 15-year-old was detained; a second suspect was also killed. Police recovered multiple handguns, including a “ghost gun” and one equipped with a “Glock switch.” Fourteen rounds were fired in total.

Washington state ranks among the stricter gun-control jurisdictions, with an assault-weapons ban, restrictions on Glock switches and bump stocks, a red-flag law, permit requirements for concealed carry, storage rules, and universal background checks for handguns. None of those measures prevented the Sunday violence.

The gap between the online characterization of a “mass shooting” and the documented details of a mutual shootout has fueled further debate. Sinatra’s call for total elimination stands as one of the starkest public reactions to the episode.
