Fauci’s Attorney Kicked Out of Senate Hearing After Yelling During Questioning

The already tense Senate hearing featuring Dr. Anthony Fauci grew sharper when his lead attorney began yelling during questioning. Sen. Rand Paul ordered the lawyer removed from the room. Capitol security escorted him out as video of the moment circulated widely.

Paul later remarked, “Let the record state that Dr. Fauci will still have the advice of the other half-a-dozen attorneys he brought along today.” Fauci himself continued to invoke the Fifth Amendment on nearly every question about pandemic decisions, NIH-funded research, and COVID origins.

In his opening remarks Fauci accused Paul of obsession and of releasing personal diary pages to intimidate him. Paul countered that a pardon does not convert misleading statements into truthful ones or prevent Congress from examining the record. The attorney’s ejection became one of the most vivid images of the day.

Fauci has testified more than 250 times before Congress. Wednesday was the first time he refused to answer under the Fifth Amendment. Republicans framed the spectacle as the same official who once demanded public trust now declining to speak under oath. Democrats and Fauci’s allies viewed the hearing as political theater. The removal of counsel only intensified the divide.
