Trump Just Teased a Strike on Iran So Large It Could Rewrite the Conflict Overnight

President Donald Trump said he is close to authorizing a “massive attack” on Iran that would be “bigger than ever before,” according to an interview with Axios.

“I am considering a massive attack. Bigger than ever before. I am close to making a decision. We are all set for it,” Trump stated. The potential operation would exceed the scale of earlier U.S. campaigns against Iranian targets.

Trump said Iran has shown interest in talks but “hasn’t received enough pain yet” to accept U.S. terms. He noted Israel would join new strikes “in two minutes” if asked, though the United States does not need additional help to expand the campaign.

Two U.S. officials confirmed that no new military orders had been issued and that the president had not yet directed the Pentagon to prepare an expanded offensive. Trump stressed he has not made a final decision.

Earlier the same day, Trump warned that Iran would be held responsible if Houthi rebels resumed attacks on commercial shipping after targeting two Saudi vessels. “If they do this again, the U.S. will hold Iran responsible,” he posted, promising “major military punishment.”

Secretary of State Marco Rubio reinforced the hard line, saying the president’s policy is “a head for an eye.” Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi blamed the United States for the diplomatic impasse, calling the American approach “irrational, excessive, and domineering.”

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said his country is prepared “for every possibility” and warned Iran would suffer “a crushing blow” if it attacked Israel. The combination of sustained U.S. strikes, force posture changes, and Trump’s public warnings left the region on edge.
