Texas Killer’s Final Words Revealed Before Execution

Ker’Sean Ramey, 41, was executed Wednesday evening at the Huntsville Unit in Texas for the 2005 murders of three people in an Edna apartment. He was pronounced dead at 6:34 p.m. CDT, 14 minutes after the pentobarbital injection began.

The Supreme Court rejected his final appeal hours earlier. His lawyers argued jurors never heard enough about childhood abuse and poverty. State prosecutors called the claim “meritless” and pointed to what they described as an escalating criminal record.

Ramey and accomplice LeJames Norman forced their way into a home on August 24, 2005, looking for cocaine. When they found none, they shot Celso Lopez, 38, then Tiffani Peacock, 18, and Samuel Roberts, 24. Court records say Ramey returned and shot the victims again.

Norman was executed on September 16 for the same crime. He had testified that both men took part. Ramey’s former girlfriend told a jury she watched him throw two handguns into a lake and later heard him describe his role.

In the chamber, a chaplain put a hand on Ramey’s shoulder and prayed. The warden asked for last words. Ramey thanked God, his family, and the men on death row.

“To the brothers on Texas death row that grew up with me, that poured into me and showed what it means to be a man, because I came in young, and didn’t understand what manhood was… to you brothers… I greatly appreciate you,” he said.

He took a deep breath, sputtered, and snored loudly before going still. He was the sixth Texas inmate executed this year. Three more lethal injections are scheduled in the next two months.

The statement was not an apology to the victims’ families. It was a goodbye aimed at the row he was leaving.
