Frozen Pasta from Bettergoods Recalled Due to Possible Listeria Contamination

A frozen pasta product sold at Walmart stores nationwide has been recalled because of possible Listeria contamination. Gias Foods, Inc. announced the recall involving certain packages of bettergoods Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine.

The affected pasta was distributed through Walmart locations across the United States. The recall applies only to two specific lots of the frozen meal, rather than the entire bettergoods pasta line. Some of the warnings suggest checking your freezer for Bettergoods Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine.

The affected product is packaged in a 22-ounce yellow plastic container. Consumers should look for UPC 194346442706 when checking packages in their freezers.

The recalled products carry lot numbers L6079C and L6080C. Those packages have expiration dates of September 19, 2027, or September 20, 2027.

The dates are printed on the back of the packaging. The potential problem was identified during routine product sampling by agriculture officials in Washington state and Florida.

Testing indicated that some finished products could contain Listeria monocytogenes.

Gias Foods stopped distributing the affected lots while the company and federal regulators work to determine the source of the possible contamination.

No illnesses connected to the recalled pasta had been reported at the time the recall was announced.

Listeria can cause serious illness, particularly among older adults, young children and people with weakened immune systems.

Pregnant women are also considered especially vulnerable because Listeria infections can result in severe pregnancy complications.

Symptoms in otherwise healthy people may include fever, headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea.

Because the recalled pasta has expiration dates extending into September 2027, consumers are being encouraged to check frozen products they may have purchased previously.

Anyone who finds one of the recalled packages should not eat it. Customers can instead return the affected product to the store where it was purchased for a full refund.

The recall does not cover every bettergoods frozen pasta product sold by Walmart.

It is limited specifically to the identified lots of bettergoods Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine. Gias Foods said distribution of the affected products has been stopped while the investigation continues.
