BREAKING: Chilling Discovery on Armed Man Allegedly Targeting Trump

An armed man arrested at President Donald Trump’s California golf course allegedly possessed detailed schedules involving first lady Melania Trump and members of the U.S. Secret Service, according to reports. Jeanine John Taele, 38, was arrested Aug. 2 near Trump National Golf Club Los Angeles in Rancho Palos Verdes, shortly before a scheduled presidential visit. Prosecutors said Taele had seven notebooks containing roughly 208 pages of writings, drawings and sketches connected to the golf course and its security operations.

The material allegedly included Melania Trump’s schedule, Secret Service schedules and information about individual members of the president’s protective detail. Authorities also reportedly found notes about living and surviving “off the grid.”

Los Angeles County Judge John Lonergan Jr. described the allegations as “alarming.” “This case itself is alarming in this day and age with the violence that is creeping into our everyday lives, especially with our partisanship in the political environment” ahead of the midterms, Lonergan said.

Criminal proceedings were suspended after a pretrial evaluation found Taele mentally unfit to stand trial. The case was transferred to a mental health court. Taele initially drew attention after plainclothes federal agents allegedly saw him walking around the golf club, taking photos and videos and appearing to observe security preparations before Trump’s arrival.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies who detained him allegedly discovered a loaded 16-round magazine containing hollow-point ammunition in his pants pocket. A search of his vehicle reportedly uncovered a loaded handgun with a round in the chamber, along with another magazine containing hollow-point rounds.

Investigators later searched Taele’s home in Downey, California, where authorities said they recovered an illegally modified AR-platform rifle, a .45-caliber handgun, body armor, high-capacity magazines and additional ammunition.

Authorities also reported finding radio-related equipment and notebooks containing what investigators characterized as concerning statements.

Taele allegedly told authorities that he worked for the State Department and was at the golf course as part of a security detail. The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force, the Secret Service and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department have been involved in the investigation.

Taele, a Marine veteran who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, is expected to remain jailed until a Sept. 9 hearing in Hollywood Mental Health Court.

His public defender, A.J. Bayne, urged the public not to assume a motive before more facts are known. “He’s a veteran, he served our country, and I don’t know enough right now, but he has a family that loves him, that has huge support for him,” Bayne said, adding that “people assume too much” about Taele’s motives.

The Secret Service has previously said it does not discuss specific protective intelligence matters.

However, the agency said it “thoroughly investigates any information or activity that may reasonably be perceived as a protective intelligence concern or indicate a potential threat or directed interest toward any individual under Secret Service protection.”

Trump also commented on the arrest, saying, “Well, the only thing I get a little solace from is, they say only consequential presidents. And I am definitely consequential.”
