Trump Weighs Next Press Secretary—Here Are the Frontrunners

With Karoline Leavitt set to leave the White House podium at the end of the month, a short list of potential successors is already circulating among sources close to President Donald Trump. A White House source told the New York Post that no decision or timetable has been finalized.

Early frontrunners reportedly include Alina Habba, the former acting U.S. attorney for New Jersey and one-time personal attorney to the president. Breitbart News Washington Bureau Chief Matthew Boyle, who has covered Trump since 2015 and is well-known in his circle, is also frequently mentioned.

Other names in the mix are White House deputy chief of staff for communications and personnel Taylor Budowich, communications director Steven Cheung, Katie Miller (wife of deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller), and principal deputy press secretary Anna Kelly.

Leavitt’s departure announcement emphasized family. She called the role “the honor and adventure of a lifetime” but said she could no longer balance its constant demands with being the best mother possible to her two young children after the birth of her daughter.

Trump publicly supported the move, calling Leavitt “one of my most trusted aides” who has done “a phenomenal job fighting for Justice, Liberty, and Freedom.” He respected her decision to prioritize family while noting she would remain a top advisor outside the White House.

The process appears early and fluid. Sources stress Trump has not settled on a replacement, leaving the high-profile role open as the administration continues its agenda.
