Spencer Pratt Claims Karen Bass Violated Election Law

Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt filed a formal complaint Tuesday with the Los Angeles City Clerk’s Office, accusing Mayor Karen Bass of violating election laws by campaigning near a ballot drop box during early voting.

The complaint claims Bass engaged in illegal electioneering within 100 feet of a voting location, soliciting votes and holding campaign signs in violation of both city and state election codes.

Pratt’s campaign, represented by attorney Peter McNulty, described the alleged violations as “clear, repeated, and publicly documented” through social media videos.

In one clip posted by Bass roughly a week before the election, she is seen speaking with supporters and volunteers before appearing at a ballot drop box as ballots were being submitted.

Pratt responded sharply on X, stating, “Karen Bass just violated election law here… Electioneering within 100 feet of a ballot box is AGAINST THE LAW.”

Pratt emphasized that his campaign is not seeking to restrict political speech but is demanding consistent enforcement of the rules to protect voting integrity.

The Bass campaign pushed back, denying any wrongdoing.

The City Clerk’s Office has not yet publicly commented on the complaint.
