Biden Team in Full Meltdown Over Secret Tapes — Here’s Why

Former President Joe Biden filed a lawsuit against the Trump Justice Department to prevent the release of approximately 70 hours of private audio recordings made during sessions with his ghostwriter for the 2017 memoir *Promise Me, Dad*.

The recordings, captured in 2016 and 2017 at Biden’s home, were used by Special Counsel Robert Hur during his investigation into Biden’s handling of classified documents.

Hur’s probe revealed that Biden had read classified material aloud to ghostwriter Mark Zwonitzer on multiple occasions.

The recordings played a central role in Hur’s February 2024 report, which described the then-81-year-old Biden as “an elderly man with a poor memory” — a characterization that significantly damaged his re-election campaign.

Biden’s legal team argues that releasing the tapes would constitute an “unwarranted invasion of privacy,” asserting that every American, including former presidents, has a right to privacy in personal conversations held in their own home.

The lawsuit seeks to block the DOJ from turning over the recordings and transcripts to Republican lawmakers and the conservative Heritage Foundation, which are expected to receive them soon.

The audio also captured Biden saying phrases such as “I just found all the classified stuff downstairs,” according to Hur’s report.

Investigators recovered the material even after the ghostwriter deleted some files following Hur’s appointment.

President Donald Trump reacted swiftly on Truth Social, labeling Biden “A Crooked Politician!!!”

The case stems from the discovery of classified documents from Biden’s vice presidential years at his Delaware home and former office.
