JD Vance’s Mom Unloads: ‘That Man’s an Idiot’

Beverly Vance Aikins did not give a consultant-approved non-answer when Tomi Lahren asked about Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed’s attacks on her son’s family.

“I think that man’s an idiot,” the vice president’s mother said on “Tomi Lahren Is Fearless.”

The flashpoint was El-Sayed’s comments about Second Lady Usha Vance and the couple’s children. In an April podcast appearance that resurfaced, he said of Vance, “Can you imagine, he’s got brown kids, at some point he’s going to have a really awkward conversation with his kids, like, you made your career hating people who are different.”

He also mocked the marriage. “What do you think is going through Usha’s head when [the vice president] talks? She’s like, ‘Damn, I have to sleep with him,’” El-Sayed said. “I guess she’s pregnant so something is happening.”

Aikins made clear whom she was defending. “Those are my babies. I love those babies and would do anything for any of them,” she said. “And I love Usha as if she were my own daughter. She’s one of the best, most genuine people I’ve ever met.”

She first said she laughs off attacks. When Lahren pressed, the temperature changed. “It makes me mad, honestly, because he doesn’t know JD and he doesn’t know, you know, what type of person he is, and I do.”

Then came the line that traveled. “I’d probably punch the guy if I ever seen him, and then that would get me in trouble — So, I’ll just go with the flow.”

El-Sayed later escalated online, claiming Vance has “brown kids who he thinks are less American than everyone else,” and needling the vice president’s late grandfather: “So do we think JD is taking Usha with him back in time to meet Papaw, or no…”

Vance had already answered on the trail: “Keep my wife’s name the hell outta your mouth, because she’s way outta your league.”

Aikins offered her own theory. She thinks jealousy is doing the talking. “JD is 42 years old. He’s handsome. He’s the vice president of the United States.”

Michigan voters can decide whether a Senate candidate who talks that way about a sitting vice president’s wife and children is ready for a statewide job. Vance’s mother has already cast her vote in plain English.
