Five Men Arrested Over Alleged Terror Plot at U.S. Bomber Base

Kaitlan Collins has spent much of her national political reporting career covering Donald Trump, and their relationship has repeatedly produced tense exchanges in front of cameras.

Long before Collins became one of CNN’s most recognizable anchors, she was covering Trump’s first administration from the White House, where her persistent questioning frequently put her directly at odds with the president and his aides.

One of the earliest major confrontations came in July 2018, when Collins was serving as the television pool reporter during an Oval Office appearance involving Trump and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker.

As reporters were being ushered out, Collins repeatedly questioned Trump about his former attorney Michael Cohen, including whether Trump believed Cohen had betrayed him and whether he was concerned about what Cohen might tell federal prosecutors.

She also asked why Russian President Vladimir Putin had not yet accepted an invitation to visit Washington, another major issue dominating headlines at the time. Trump did not answer her questions.

Later that day, Collins was informed that she would not be permitted to attend an otherwise open Rose Garden event. Collins said then-press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders and communications official Bill Shine told her that officials considered her earlier questions inappropriate.
