The Democratic National Committee drew intense criticism after posting content on Memorial Day that featured photos of U.S. service members killed in the Iran conflict and referred to the deaths as occurring in “Trump’s war with Iran.”
The partisan framing sparked outrage from veterans, both parties, and the public for using fallen heroes for political attacks on a day of solemn remembrance.

Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), a combat veteran who lost both legs in Iraq, publicly condemned the post as “incredibly distasteful.”
The DNC quickly deleted the post amid the backlash. The incident comes as 13 U.S. service members have died in the Iran-related hostilities that began in late February.
