Jennifer Oliver, whose daughter Nieve competed at the CIF Southern Section Track & Field Masters Meet, said there is “no hate” toward transgender athlete AB Hernandez, but stressed the need for fairness in girls’ sports.
Hernandez, a biological male from Jurupa Valley High School, won high jump (5’8″), triple jump, and long jump at the May 23, 2026 meet in Moorpark, Calif.
Due to a new CIF rule, Hernandez shared the high jump championship podium with the top biological female.
Oliver called on California officials to follow biology and President Trump’s executive order protecting women’s sports, saying the situation deprives girls of fair opportunities and raises safety concerns in contact sports.
