Rob Lowe’s Niece Dead at 13

Actor Chad Lowe and his family are mourning the death of his 13-year-old daughter, Fiona Lowe. Fiona died Sept. 29 at a Los Angeles hospital, according to information released by the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s office. The medical examiner ruled her death a suicide.

Lowe’s family issued a statement describing their heartbreak following the teenager’s death. “We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona,” the family said. The family remembered Fiona as a bright and creative teenager who had a passion for dancing.

“She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance,” the statement continued. The family also described the close relationship Fiona shared with her parents and sisters.

“She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives.” The family asked for privacy as they cope with the devastating loss.

“Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time.” Fiona had celebrated her 13th birthday in November 2025.

At the time, Lowe shared a photo of his daughter along with a loving birthday message.

“Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!!” Lowe wrote. “Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!”

Fiona was the middle daughter of Lowe and his wife, Kim Painter. The couple also share daughters Mabel and Nixie.

Lowe and Painter have largely kept their family life outside the Hollywood spotlight. They married in 2010 after being together for several years.

Chad Lowe, the younger brother of actor Rob Lowe, has built a lengthy career in television as both an actor and director.

He won an Emmy for his work on “Life Goes On” and has also appeared in projects including “Pretty Little Liars” and “9-1-1: Lone Star.”

Painter has worked behind the scenes in entertainment as a producer and casting professional, with credits that include “Enemy of the State,” “Ted Bundy” and “Instant Dads.”

In its statement, the family also encouraged people experiencing mental health struggles or suicidal thoughts to seek help through the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Anyone in the United States experiencing suicidal thoughts or a mental health crisis can call or text 988 for confidential crisis support.
