Mayor Katie Wilson, a 43-year-old Democratic socialist, has publicly apologized for last year’s criticism of Starbucks and her call for a boycott of the iconic Seattle-based company.
In a New York Times interview this week, Wilson said her comments — made while supporting striking baristas — “were not productive” and “caused more harm than good.”
The reversal comes as concerns grow over businesses leaving the city, highlighted by Starbucks’ decision to build a major new office in Nashville.
Wilson now says she wants the company to remain in Seattle and maintains a positive relationship with them.
