Tim Walz Blasted for ‘School Shooters’ Comment

During the vice presidential debate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz ignited a backlash with his remark, “I’ve become friends with school shooters.”

The remark quickly went viral, drawing criticism from figures like former President Donald Trump, who questioned Walz’s sanity and suggested he should apologize to victims’ families.

“Second time he has said, ‘I’ve been friends with school shooters.’ What does he mean by this? Is he insane?” Trump wrote online.

“Walz made a very big mistake on Gun Shooters. Does anyone think he knows what he said? Will he have a News Conference after the Debate to apologize to the parents and others who were so horribly hurt?” Trump added.

“Tim Walz is winning the school shooter vote for sure!” conservative commentator Gavin Wax said.

“I thought my friends were a little rough around the edges but Tim Walz just said he’s friends with school shooters,” the Blaze’s Jesse Kelly wrote.

Walz later cited Finland as a model for preventing school shootings, emphasizing the need for reasonable measures.

“They don’t have this happen,” Walz said of Finland. “Even though they have a high gun-ownership rate in the country, there are reasonable things that we can do to make a difference.”

He hinted at the possibility of gun confiscation, though he did not specify which weapons would be targeted.
