Felon Arrested at Home Linked to Ilhan Omar

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., declined to answer questions this week about a police search of an apartment shared by her son and a roommate who was arrested on a weapons charge. Minneapolis police executed a search warrant on Aug. 25 at the residence shared by Omar’s 20-year-old son, Adnan Hirsi, and 22-year-old Abdulrahman Abdi. Authorities reportedly recovered multiple firearms and ammunition from the apartment.

The investigation began after police stopped Abdi for a traffic violation. Officers cited him for driving without a license and without proof of insurance before the vehicle was impounded. Police later discovered a firearm in the vehicle, according to reports. Abdi, who has a prior felony conviction, was subsequently arrested on a weapons charge.

Neither Hirsi nor Omar has been accused of wrongdoing in connection with the investigation. Hirsi was not arrested or charged.

Omar was questioned about the situation while walking through the Capitol.

“What do you know about the situation, why it happened in the first place?” she was asked.

Omar continued walking without responding, prompting additional questions about whether she had discussed the circumstances with her son.

“Are you going to advise your son to move from his place? Away from that situation? We were just wondering what you thought about the whole thing,” the reporter asked.

Omar did not answer the questions before walking away. Her office also did not immediately provide a response to Fox News Digital’s request for comment, according to the outlet.

Abdi was released from custody the day after his arrest. Public booking information lists a weapons charge stemming from his Aug. 25 arrest by Minneapolis police.

The incident has attracted attention in part because Omar has consistently supported stricter federal gun laws during her time in Congress, including expanded background checks and restrictions on certain firearms.

Critics of the congresswoman seized on the episode despite the absence of any allegation that Omar or her son possessed the weapons.

“Not a good look for Ilhan Omar,” conservative activist Benny Johnson wrote on X, according to Fox News.

For now, the criminal case centers on Abdi, while neither Omar nor Hirsi has been publicly identified as a suspect or charged in connection with the firearms recovered from the residence.
