Israel Makes Historic Move For First Time in 50 Years

via NBC

Israel has formally declared war for the first time in 50 years.

This is the first such declaration since the Yom Kippur War in 1973. The nation underwent a surprise military attack from Syria to the north and Egypt to the south in the 70s.

Fast-forwarding to present day, at least 700 people were killed in Israel by Palestinian Hamas terrorists in a surprise attack. Four American citizens were killed and other Americans were taken as hostages.

Radical Islamic terrorists arrived in vans and shot at least 260 people attending a music festival in Israel.

Israel was hit in several locations by more than 2,000 rockets. (Poll: Was Trump better than Biden? VOTE)

The attack occurred roughly one month after President Joe Biden approved the release of $6 billion to Iran, which is a state sponsor of terrorism in the region.

Although funds were intended to be used for “humanitarian causes,” critics say the actual use of the funds cannot be properly audited.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the U.S. is working to verify the American deaths and disappearances of Americans.

A specific number was not provided, but Blinken alluded to “several.”

Israel’s minister for strategic affairs Ron Dermer confirmed that Hamas hostages include American citizens.

“We have a lot of dual citizens in Israel,” Dermer said.

“I suspect there are several, but we’re still trying to sort through all of all this information after this horrific surprise attack.”

“We’ll make sure to put that information out so that the loved ones of these people who were killed and who are held hostage, they know as quickly as possible,” he added.

Anchor Dana Bash said, “I want to ask about any Americans in Israel. Is there any indication that Americans were killed or kidnapped by terrorists?” (Trending: 20th Busload of Illegals Arrives In Democrat City)

Blinken said, “Yes. We have reports that several Americans were killed. We’re working overtime to verify that. At the same time, there are reports of missing Americans, and, there again, we’re working to verify those reports.”

Bash said, “It does seem like this very coordinated attack came out of nowhere. I want our viewers to listen to what the U.S. National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said just nine days ago.”

Sullivan said, “The Middle East region is quieter today than it has been in two decades. Now challenges remain, Iran’s nuclear weapons program, tensions between Israelis and Palestinians but the amount of time that I have to spend on crisis and conflict in the Middle East compared today to my predecessors going back to 9/11 is significantly reduced.”

Blinken said, “What Jake Sullivan said is right.”
