Trump Slams Establishment Media Over Simple Vaccine Coverage
President Donald Trump has turned attention to what he sees as a glaring gap in coverage surrounding childhood vaccines.
After signing an executive order that revises recommended immunizations for children, Trump was asked why major media outlets so rarely probe the issue.
His answer pointed toward possible influence from medical and pharmaceutical interests, though he stopped short of naming specific culprits.

“It’s amazing,” Trump said. “When you come up with a recommendation for a vaccine, it could be the medical groups, the pharmaceutical groups, I don’t know, you know? But it is amazing. There’s nothing that we lose with this.”
He emphasized the low downside of the new approach. If the changes produce no measurable effect, nothing is lost. If they succeed, the potential benefits could be enormous.
“If the worst thing that would happen would be nothing happens. We’re not going to lose anything. At the same time … we could save hundreds of thousands of lives, millions of lives, and I wish we could have done it a long time ago,” he added.
The order reduces the recommended core vaccines from 18 to 11, while also calling for the combined MMR shot to be separated into individual measles, mumps, and rubella immunizations given on different visits.
Trump highlighted how the previous schedule required far more doses than those used in many peer nations, including shots administered to newborns that he believes should wait until the teenage years.
.@POTUS: For far too long, America has recommended more childhood vaccines than any peer nation, and even twice as many doses as some European countries. He noted earlier legal obstacles, including a Massachusetts court action that had delayed similar efforts, but expressed confidence that the current path would deliver “tremendous results.”
The White House has advised states and federal agencies to consider aligning their policies with the new “gold standard” recommendations.
Whether the media begins asking harder questions or continues its current pattern remains an open and closely watched question.
