Top GOP Candidate For Governor Says MLK Was An Inferior Pastor And ‘Communist’

via ABC News

Mark Robinson, the leading Republican candidate for North Carolina’s governor, has been found to have made controversial Facebook posts criticizing Martin Luther King Jr. and the civil rights movement.

These posts, including comments made on MLK Day, downplayed slavery, rejected his connection to the African American community, and attacked the late congressman John Lewis.

“It is at once funny and sad that so many people will follow the lead of a bunch of atheists and worship an ersatz pastor as a deity,” he previously posted. (Trending: Trump Responds To Biden’s Bombing In Yemen)

“The ‘state of race relations’ exist chiefly within your own mind,” he said.

“‘Free at last! Free at last! Thank God almighty we are free at last!’ Now what?” he wrote in another post.

“I don’t like Communist. No matter what ‘color’ they are,” he wrote on MLK Day.

Despite attempts to soften his rhetoric, Robinson’s past social media posts reveal a different perspective.

“Slavery of the mind is FAR worse than physical slavery,” he posted. “Slavery of the mind cannot be seen, cannot be made illegal, and is and always has been the greatest tool of Satan used against man….. and men against each other.”

Robinson has also been known for making offensive comments about various groups and aligning himself with Trump.

These controversial views are surfacing at a time when he is aiming to secure the GOP nomination for governor.
