Rep. Chip Roy Sounds Off On How The House GOP Needs New Leadership: ‘Total Disaster’

via Rep. Chip Roy

Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, criticized the $1.66 trillion government funding compromise deal reached by Speaker Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, stating that it does not address the national debt and is a disaster.

Roy called for new leadership in Washington, arguing that the current leadership is ineffective.

He suggested passing a continuing resolution funding bill to trigger spending caps and save $100 billion, but criticized Republican leaders for not taking this approach. (Trending: Fox News Star Accused Of Major Scandal)

Rep. Roy said, “The reason I think we need new leadership in Washington is that we don’t have any.”

“It’s an absolute and total disaster, this $1.66 trillion spending package,” he continued.

“I want to be very clear. Chuck Schumer was on the floor of the Senate applauding and saying ‘it doesn’t cut a nickel’ to quote his language,” said Roy.

“The debt deal wasn’t good last year but it has caps,” explained Roy.

“It would trigger the caps, the total spending would be about $1.56 trillion, we’d save $100 billion, defense will be left untouched, veterans would be left [untouched], we would cut the bureaucracy,” said Roy.

“But no, our Washington Republican leaders [are] blowing it,” lamented the Texas Republican.
