Donald Trump is using the recent surge of illegal border crossings to suggest that Democrats are encouraging migrants to enter the country illegally in order to register them to vote in the 2024 election.
This unsupported claim is resonating with voters concerned about border security and voter fraud, despite experts warning that it promotes false stereotypes and extremist ideologies.

Trump said, “I think they really are doing it because they want to sign these people up to vote. I really do.”
“They can’t speak a word of English for the most part, but they’re signing them up,” he continued.
Trump supporter Michell Harvilla said, “I fully believe the last one was rigged.”
The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles, wrote, “The Latino and immigrant communities know the law,” in a statement.
Jared Holt, a senior analyst at the Institute for Strategic Dialogue, said, “It’s sort of a tongue-in-cheek way of pushing the great replacement theory, but in a way that has been understood to be less morally repugnant or perceivably more defensible.”
“I don’t think you have to scratch very far below the surface to understand what is really being said,” added the analyst.
The surge in migration and public confusion around border policy is creating an environment where false claims can spread and fuel conspiracy theories about demographic replacement.
