Arlington National Cemetery Memorial to Be Removed

via CBS Sunday Morning

A Confederate memorial is set to be removed from Arlington National Cemetery, despite opposition from some Republican congressmen.

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin plans to relocate the monument to the New Market Battlefield State Historical Park.

The statue, unveiled in 1914, features a bronze woman and other figures, including a Black woman depicted as “Mammy” and an enslaved man. (Trending: Devastating News For Hunter Biden After Defying Subpoena)

The decision to remove the memorial follows a recommendation from an independent commission in 2022.

“The Department of Defense must respect Congress’ clear legislative intentions regarding the Naming Commission’s legislative authority” the letter read.

Additionally, Fort Bragg was renamed Fort Liberty earlier this year as part of a broader initiative to rename military installations associated with the Confederacy.
