Elon Musk’s Latest Tesla Recall Aimed at Making Sure Drivers Pay Attention with ‘Autopilot’ Engaged

via Sky News

Tesla is recalling nearly two million vehicles in the U.S. due to defective software in its Autopilot system, following a two-year investigation by the NHTSA into crashes that occurred while the system was in use.

Despite the system’s purpose to keep the vehicle in its lane, drivers are required to keep their hands on the wheel and pay attention to road conditions.

However, research indicates that drivers using Autopilot often divert their attention from the road, leading to accidents. (Trending: New Movie Obamas Helped Make Raises Eyebrows: ‘Don’t Trust White People’)

The recall covers various models produced between 2012 and 2023, and a software update is being issued to address the monitoring issues and enhance driver responsibility.

According to Breitbart, “The recall covers models Y, S, 3 and X produced between Oct. 5, 2012, and Dec. 7 of this year.”

The outlet continued, “The software update includes additional controls and alerts ‘to further encourage the driver to adhere to their continuous driving responsibility,’ the documents said.”

Concluding, “The update was to be sent to certain affected vehicles on Tuesday, with the rest getting it at a later date.”
