CDC Draws Heat For Erasing Women With ‘Pregnant People’ In Adopting Gender-Neutral Terms

via YouTube

The CDC has faced criticism for replacing the term “woman” with “pregnant people” in its COVID-19 and flu vaccine recommendations, removing gender-specific language entirely.

Critics, including medical professionals and former government officials, argue that this move prioritizes political correctness over scientific accuracy, with concerns raised about the potential confusion caused by the new terminology, particularly for non-native English speakers.

This change has sparked controversy, with some calling it an example of politics interfering with medicine. (Trending: Elon Musk Condemns Arrest Of Jan 6 Protester)

“The CDC is supposed to be an apolitical bastion of science, but here they are cowering to political forces, a small minority but highly influential entities, who are trying to change language, Orwellian style, to force acceptance of an absurdity,” said Dr. Jane Orient, executive director of The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons.

“All pregnant persons are women,” she continued.

“A trans man is a woman who is trying to alter her body to resemble a man’s, explained the physician.

“She is endangering her baby’s health if she is taking testosterone.”

Advising, “The CDC ought to be warning about that.”

Roger Severino, the former head of the Office for Civil Rights within Health and Human Services in the Trump administration said, there is “no medical reason to start changing basic scientific terminology.”

“It’s anti-science in the extreme because where the biological reality of male and female matters most is in the health sciences and in medicine, and to politicize it… offends science and common sense,” he continued.

This is not the first time the CDC has used the term “pregnant people,” as it was previously employed in 2021 under then-CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky.

“The rise in cases, vaccine hesitancy, and the increased risk of severe illness for pregnant people make vaccination against #COVID19 more urgent than ever,” wrote Walensky on X.

Adding, “Read why @CDCgov recommends that pregnant people should be vaccinated against COVID-19.”
