‘I Make No Apologies’: New House Speaker Says The Bible Is His Worldview

via FOX

Newly-elected House Speaker Mike Johnson, a Republican from Louisiana, emphasized the influence of his Christian faith on his worldview during an interview with Sean Hannity.

To understand his worldview, Johnson told Fox News host Sean Hannity that people can sipmly “go pick up a Bible off your shelf and read it.”

Johnson brought his Bible with him for his first speech as Speaker and expressed his belief that all members of Congress are called by God to serve the American people.

“Someone asked me today in the media, ‘People are curious, what does Mike Johnson think about any issue?’ I said, ‘Well, go pick up a Bible off your shelf and read it. That’s my worldview.”

“Someone asked me today in the media, they said, ‘It’s curious, people are curious. What does Mike Johnson think about any issue under the sun?’” Johnson told Hannity.

“I said, ‘Well, go pick up a Bible off your shelf and read it – that’s my worldview.’ That’s what I believe and so I make no apologies for it,” he said.

“That’s your personal worldview,” Hannity pressed, and Johnson confirmed: “That’s my personal worldview.”

Johnson’s faith and reliance on prayer were highlighted by his fellow Republican, Rep. Greg Steube.

Rep. Greg Steube (R-FL) said, “In January, Congressman Mike Johnson joined me on the House floor while we were in a deadlock over who our next Speaker would be.”

“We lifted up the speaker’s race to the Lord and asked for his divine guidance. Immediately after the prayer, 14 members changed their votes, ultimately leading to Speaker McCarthy securing the gavel by the end of the day.”

“Mike Johnson is a strong conservative, but above all else, he is a strong Christian. He’s not afraid to look to his faith for guidance. America needs that more than ever in the U.S. House,” he added.
