A federal judge has ordered the release of Rondell Henry, a Maryland man who has been imprisoned for over four years on charges related to plotting Islamic State-inspired attack.
The ISIS terrorist was planning to kill innocent Americans at an airport and a shopping complex near Washington, D.C.
Henry pleaded guilty to attempting an act of violence at Dulles International Airport and has already served the jail time since his arrest in 2019. (Trending: Biden Official Caught Working For Terrorists)
U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis, appointed by former President Barack Obama, agreed to sentence Henry to the jail time that he already has served since his March 2019 arrest.
Critics say this is an extremely lenient outcome by a Democrat judge who is soft on crime.
The judge sentenced him to lifetime supervised release with mandatory mental health treatment.
Henry’s plans were inspired by a 2016 truck attack in Nice, France.
His case faced delays due to questions about his mental competency, but he ultimately agreed to the plea deal. (Poll: Is the U.S. Heading in the Right Direction? VOTE)
“It’s an unusual resolution for a highly unusual case,” Xinis claimed.
“This had the potential to cause mass death, mass casualties, as well as widespread fear,” said a prosecutor, Jessica Collins.
Defense attorney Ned Smock said, “This is by no means a lenient outcome. Everybody is on board with the idea that this is an appropriate sentence.”
“His family is thrilled to report that he is himself again,” his lawyers wrote. “He is anxious to return to work, his family, and the law-abiding life he was leading before his mental health deteriorated.”
“Henry instead entered the terminal building, where he attempted to tail another individual into a restricted area of the airport but was prevented from doing so,” prosecutors wrote.
