The war in Israel marks the third instance during Biden’s term where Americans have become stranded abroad without the assurance of a government escort to safety.
Amidst the outbreak of war in Israel triggered by Hamas’ terrorist attack, Biden advised Americans to secure commercial flights or explore ground transportation.

This included a church group from St. Louis, Missouri, which included around 41 members. They were unable to depart due to canceled commercial flights.
With assistance from Republican Missouri Sen. Eric Schmitt, the group managed to relocate while awaiting options to return to the United States.
“They were literally on their own, in a foreign land, with a war going on, going to a country that they don’t know anything about,” church member Trevor Wolfe said. (Trending: Why Is Biden Giving Amnesty to 700,000 Migrants?)
An Arizona family is currently stranded in Israel because their flight was canceled.
“They originally told us that they could fly us out on Wednesday,” a family member, Kane Adkins said.
“Now they’re trying to tell us that American air flights or air traffic is being canceled, maybe it might happen on Friday or Saturday, they’re saying. I have three little ones at home, and they don’t all know what’s going on.”
At least 14 Americans have been killed and more are being held hostage. Biden promised to “deploy experts” to “consult with and advise Israeli counterparts” to rescue them.
The U.S. government estimated at least 16,000 Americans were left behind in Sudan.
Joyce Eiler said her son had been told by U.S. embassy officials said that he was “on his own” in his efforts to leave.
Muna Daoud, whose American parents were stuck in Sudan said, “I am incredibly shocked and disgusted by the American lackluster response to the health and safety of their citizens.”
After the U.S. military withdrew from Afghanistan as many as 9,000 American citizens were left behind but Biden said, “We completed one of the biggest airlifts in history.”
“With more than 120,000 people evacuated to safety, that number is more than double what most experts thought was possible. No nation – no nation has ever done anything like it in all the history.”
“I have no higher priority than the safety of Americans being held hostage around the world,” Biden said.
