Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said to President Biden, “Israel is at war. We didn’t want this war.”
“It was forced upon us in the most brutal and savage way. But though Israel didn’t start this war, Israel will finish it.”
Hamas has “made a mistake of historic proportions. We will exact a price that will be remembered by them and Israel’s other enemies for decades to come.” he added.
The overall death toll has now surpassed 1,600, with thousands wounded on both sides. Supporters of the Palestinian cause are calling on Israel to cease civilian casualties, as continuous airstrikes on Hamas positions in the densely populated Gaza Strip have led to the destruction of several buildings.
