Record Number of Hollywood Actors In Big Trouble

Not all Hollywood actors are earning millions and living in luxury.

A record number of actors are in trouble and will reportedly be unable pay their rent and other bills. This is the result of a massive ongoing writers’ strike by the Screen Actors Guild.

Many major studios and streaming platforms appear to be “waiting out” the strike as union members will face financial difficulties due to prolonged unemployment.

Hollywood is expecting to see a surge in eviction cases and requests for rent assistance from actors.

According to Motion Picture & Television Fund President and CEO Bob Beitcher, he said, “They’re being evicted from their apartments and they’re not paying their mortgages so eventually they will lose their homes as well.”

“We’re talking to people who are living in their cars, in some cases with their families.”

Despite efforts by organizations like the Entertainment Community Fund and the MPTF, which have provided financial aid to film and TV workers, the assistance falls far short of covering the exorbitant living costs in Los Angeles, where the average monthly rent is nearly $3,000.
