In the span of five weeks, Trader Joe’s has its sixth product recall.
This time involves specific batches of Texas Tamale Company Gourmet Black Bean Tamales.
These tamales, distributed in stores across nine states, are being recalled due to an undisclosed allergen concern.

According to information posted on the Trader Joe’s website, a supplier alerted the company to the possibility that one production lot of these tamales might contain undeclared milk.
The product lot code in question is 17023, with a best-buy date of June 19, 2025, as indicated in the recall notice.
No reported illnesses are associated with this recall, and Trader Joe’s has promptly removed all potentially affected products from its shelves.
However, as a precautionary measure, Trader Joe’s is advising its customers not to consume these tamales. Instead, they are encouraged to either dispose of the product or return it to the store for a refund.
This latest recall adds to a recent series of recalls by the company, the majority of which were linked to contamination from foreign objects, ranging from rocks to insects.
For example, earlier this month, Trader Joe’s recalled specific boxes of its Trader Joe’s Multigrain Crackers with Sunflower and Flax Seeds due to concerns of potential metal contamination.
Trader Joe’s has stated that the timing of these consecutive recalls is purely coincidental.
In the previous month, the company issued a recall for particular boxes of Trader Joe’s Fully Cooked Falafel after a supplier alerted them to a possible presence of rocks.
Just prior to that, another supplier informed the grocer of potential insects in certain packages of Trader Joe’s Unexpected Broccoli Cheddar Soup.
Two days before the alert regarding the soup, the company warned customers about certain packages of Trader Joe’s Almond Windmill Cookies and Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Chunk and Almond Cookies, citing possible contamination with rocks.
None of the recall notices reported any illnesses or injuries related to the recalled products. Additionally, the company did not disclose specific details about the reasons behind the supplier warnings.
A spokesperson from Trader Joe’s emphasized their commitment to swift action, asserting that they withdraw products from the shelves as soon as any issue is identified, without waiting for regulatory agencies to intervene.
“We care greatly about the safety of the products we sell. We err on the side of caution and are proactive in addressing issues,” the spokesperson said. “We voluntarily take action quickly and aggressively – investigating potential problems and removing a product from sale if there is any doubt about its safety or quality.”
