For the first time since 9/11, the sitting U.S. president will not attend any of the observances held annually in New York City in support of service members and the victims’ families.

Joe Biden is facing major backlash over the shameful decision to break with the American tradition.

Former President George W. Bush arrived in NYC on September 14, 2001 to support Americans who were grappling with unimaginable loss. Bush’s visit to Ground Zero was a stark reminder that leaders share in the grief of their nation. (Poll: Is Joe Biden Fit to be President? VOTE)

As he stood among the ruins, his eyes welled with tears, and his facial expression carried a mix of determination and empathy. In that moment, he wasn’t just a president; he was a fellow American who felt the weight of the tragedy.

Since then, every president has attended the annual observances in New York City, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Some of these ceremonies are not very far outside Washington, D.C.

Instead, Biden is heading to Alaska for the 9/11 observance at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage.

First lady Jill Biden plans to lay a wreath at the 9/11 memorial at the Pentagon.

On the morning of September 11, 2001, Islamic terrorists carried out attacks on the United States and left a nation shattered, grieving, and seeking solace. (Poll: Who Should Win the Presidency In 2024? VOTE)

In the aftermath of this unprecedented tragedy, one moment stands out as a testament to the resilience and unity that define the spirit of America: President George W. Bush’s poignant visit to New York City. Stepping onto the hallowed ground of Ground Zero, President Bush provided both comfort and resolve to a city and a nation in mourning.

New York City bore the brunt of the devastation and loss. The iconic Twin Towers, symbols of economic might and American progress, crumbled to the ground, taking with them nearly 3,000 innocent lives.

The city’s skyline was forever altered, replaced by a plume of smoke and dust that shrouded the area where the towers once stood.

In the days following the attacks, New Yorkers, known for their resilience and unity, came together to support one another.

Firefighters, police officers, medical professionals, and volunteers worked tirelessly at Ground Zero, searching for survivors, recovering remains, and clearing debris. The city’s spirit remained unbroken, but a collective wound was etched into the city’s heart.

In appears that Biden believes it’s best to break with tradition and refuse to visit the annual 9/11 observances.
