According to state media, the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-Un, has instructed his army to significantly increase the manufacturing of missiles and other weapons.
The leader recently visited major munitions factories. Joint military exercises between South Korea and the United States began shortly after Kim’s announcement.

During his visit to a missile factory, he commanded a substantial improvement in production capabilities to meet the requirements of the frontline military units.
Kim reportedly said, “The qualitative level of war preparations depends on the development of the munitions industry and the factory bears a very important responsibility in speeding up the war preparations of the (North) Korean People’s Army.”

According to U.S. officials, the desire for increased missiles and weapons coincides with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu’s discussions with North Korean officials during his recent visit to Pyongyang. The talks revolved around Moscow’s intention to enhance the sale of munitions, while Russia continues its invasion of Ukraine, which has been ongoing for over 530 days.
The report also mentioned that Kim, during his visits to various factories, emphasized the importance of constructing advanced missile launch trucks. Additionally, he expressed a pressing need to significantly increase the production of large-caliber multiple rocket launcher shells at a rapid pace.
The North Korean military has conducted more than 100 missile tests. since 2022.
North Korea has been trying to solidify its ties with China and Russia with the ultimate of modernizing its weapons and nuclear threats to gain U.S. concessions, including sanctions relief.
