Golden Globe winner Charlize Theron adopted a boy named Jackson who decided to identify as female at age three.
“Yes, I thought she was a boy, too,” the actress explain about the child’s gender. “Until she looked at me when she was three years old and said: ‘I am not a boy!’” Theron said.

Theron, who won an Academy Award for Best Actress, was listed among Time Magazine’s 100 most influential people in the world. She is known for appearing in numerous Hollywood films, such as The Devil’s Advocate (1997), Mighty Joe Young (1998), The Italian Job (2003), Hancock (2008), Mad Max (2015), and many others.
Jackson has been seen wearing skirts and dresses and with long, braided hair. “My job as a parent is to celebrate them and to love them and to make sure that they have everything they need in order to be what they want to be,” Theron said.
“And I will do everything in my power for my kids to have that right and to be protected within that,” she added. The actress recently sent a threatening warning to people who disagree with drag queen events. “We love you queens! We’re in your corner,” the liberal 47-year-old actress said.
“We’ve got you, and I will f*** anybody up who is, like, trying to f*** with anything with you guys,” she told critics.

She participated in the “Drag Isn’t Dangerous” telethon in order to raise money for LGBTQ causes. Multiple Hollywood celebrities performed at the event. Theron said, “In all seriousness, there are so many things that are hurting and, really, killing our kids, right, and we all know what I’m talking about right now.”

Allowing young children to transition genders is a major topic of controversy. In 2023, a poll from the Washington Post-Kaiser Family Foundation found that 52% of adults support gender-affirming care for transgender children while 46% oppose it. The poll also found that support for gender-affirming care is higher among Democrats (71%) than Republicans (31%).
Also in 2023, a poll from Deseret News/HarrasX Poll found that 55% of voters oppose gender-affirming care for transgender children, while 43% support it. The poll also found that opposition to gender-affirming care is higher among men (61%) than women (49%).
Last year, in 2022, the Pew Research Center conducted a poll and found that 46% of Americans support gender-affirming care for transgender children while 42% oppose it. The poll also found that support for gender-affirming care is higher among younger adults (54%) than older adults (40%).
