WATCH: Ilhan Omar laughs as she says terrorist groups with intensity

Sometimes you looks at a MSM take and you just have to go, “Huh?”

It’s hard to comprehend this take from the New York Times about the release of the “American Taliban,” John Walker Lindh, whose release is troubling many because they don’t believe he’s changed his thoughts.

Wait, what? Are they really downplaying that he fought for and with terrorists? And blaming President George W. Bush for the “recast” of the Taliban as an enemy? It sure looks like it.

The Taliban were harboring Al Qaeda in Afghanistan and allowing Osama Bin Laden to run terrorist training camps. Lindh trained at the Al Farouq Al Qaeda training camp and got a lecture from bin Laden there.

He was being held at a prison camp and had just been questioned by CIA agent Johnny Spann when there was an uprising and Spann was killed.

The government filed ten charges against him after he was caught in November 2001 including: conspiracy to murder U.S. citizens or U.S. nationals, two counts of conspiracy to provide material support and resources to designated foreign terrorist organizations, two counts of providing material support and resources to terrorist organizations, and one count of supplying services to the Taliban, conspiracy to contribute services to Al Qaeda, contributing services to Al Qaeda, conspiracy to supply services to the Taliban, and using and carrying firearms and destructive devices during crimes of violence, a crime which carries a mandatory 30-year consecutive sentence.

He ended up taking a plea agreement to supplying services to the Taliban and carrying an explosive during the commission of a felony, in what was a great deal for Lindh.

And he was just released on Thursday for ‘good behavior’ despite concerns about him still expressing extremist views.

From Washington Examiner:

The senators said Lindh remains a danger to society and was among a number of prisoners who “continue to openly call for extremist violence.” This was a reference to two government assessments of Lindh leaked in 2017 that painted a picture of an unrepentant extremist who remained radicalized behind bars.

The documents stated that Lindh “made pro-[Islamic State] statements” and “has continued to advocate for global jihad and to write and translate violent extremist texts.”

But you wouldn’t know all that if you just listened to the New York Times’ tweet.

There’s even this line right below the header: “If he becomes the terrorist we’ve always accused him of being, the fault will lie as much with us as with him.” It’s OUR fault if he becomes a terrorist. Unreal.
