Federal prosecutors have charged Fahima Egeh Mahamud, owner of Future Leaders Early Learning Center, with wire fraud and conspiracy to defraud the United States.
Mahamud is accused of inflating meal counts and enrollment numbers to fraudulently obtain over $5.4 million in federal funds from the Child Nutrition Program and Child Care Assistance Program between 2021 and 2025.
Much of the money was allegedly diverted for personal real estate purchases.
She was previously charged in the massive $250 million Feeding Our Future scandal.
Mahamud attempted to flee to London earlier this year and is currently under house arrest.
