Former Attorney General Pam Bondi, 60, was diagnosed with thyroid cancer shortly after departing the Justice Department in early April.
She has undergone treatment and is recovering, sources told Axios.
The health update comes as President Trump appointed her to the Presidential Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, where she will advise on artificial intelligence policy.
Katie Miller called Bondi “quietly kicking cancer’s ass” and praised her “heart of gold.”
Trump previously lauded her leadership in reducing crime during her tenure.
