NASCAR driver Kyle Busch died at age 41 after becoming unresponsive Wednesday while testing in a Chevrolet racing simulator in Concord, North Carolina.
Busch had been hospitalized with a βsevere illness,β according to his family.
He had been battling a sinus cold and persistent cough in recent weeks, including requesting medical assistance during a May 10 race at Watkins Glen.
The two-time Cup Series champion (2015, 2019) was preparing for the Coca-Cola 600 at the time of the incident.
His most recent start was a 17th-place finish in the All-Star race.
Busch is survived by his wife Samantha and their children, Brexton and Lennix. No official cause of death has been released.
