Vice President JD Vance said Tuesday that the Department of Justice has launched an investigation into Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) over long-standing allegations of immigration fraud, including claims she married her brother to help him gain legal status in the U.S.
Vance described the case as “fishy” and said the probe is part of the Trump administration’s broader anti-fraud initiative.
He referenced past statements in which he asserted Omar “definitely committed immigration fraud,” while stressing any charges would depend on evidence.
Omar has repeatedly denied the allegations as politically motivated lies.
The Minnesota congresswoman has not yet commented on the newly announced investigation.
