Ilhan Omar’s Sister Just Got Linked to One of Minnesota’s Biggest Fraud Scandals — and the Paper Trail Is Growing

A Daily Wire investigation has drawn new attention to alleged connections between Rep. Ilhan Omar’s sister and central figures in Minnesota’s massive Feeding Our Future fraud scheme.

Sahra Noor, Omar’s sister, used the address of a woman who had business ties to several people later convicted in the scandal. The federal meals program fraud has been described as the largest public theft case in Minnesota history.

Public records show Noor operated organizations including People’s Center Clinics & Services, which received a controversial $2 million earmark while Omar served in the state legislature. Noor later founded Grit Partners Consulting, which claims to have secured more than $20 million in funding for health initiatives and consulted on projects backed by USAID and other international groups.

Grit Partners was registered at a home on Hyacinth Avenue in Lakeville occupied by Mashah Ahmed Ali and Ister Ahmed Afraa. Afraa had incorporated companies with Hanna Marekegn, who pleaded guilty to wire fraud after admitting she stole $7 million through Feeding Our Future while falsely claiming to feed 4,000 children daily.

Afraa also had ties to Aimee Bock, the former Feeding Our Future leader sentenced to 41 years in prison. State records listed Bock as a point of contact for multiple entities connected to the same address. Investigative documents indicated Bock told authorities that the head of one related care center was introduced to the scheme by another major figure later sentenced to prison.

The address trail extended further, with multiple companies registered at locations tied to convicted participants who allegedly billed the government for millions in nonexistent meals. Questions about Omar’s family connections are not new, though she has long denied wrongdoing. Noor has since relocated to Africa, and Grit Partners has conducted work there funded by the now-defunct USAID.
