Fox News Star Announces Heartbreaking Loss

Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin said over the weekend that his dog Axel has died after 12 years with his family.

Melugin posted the news Sunday on X, with photos of Axel. “Really tough weekend. Flew home to day goodbye to our sweet boy Axel after 12 years of pure joy and love with him. He was such a good big brother and pack leader for our adopted border pups. Accepted them immediately. And he helped our family through the loss of my dad more than he’ll ever know. Will miss him so much. Love you forever Axe.”

He said Axel took on the role of big brother for the family’s adopted border pups and accepted them right away. He also credited the dog with helping the family after his father’s death.

The post drew notes from colleagues and followers. Fox News anchor Bret Baier wrote, “Sorry for your loss Bill. Axel looks like he was an amazing pal.”

Melugin is one of Fox’s best-known correspondents on immigration, the southern border, and federal law enforcement. The Sunday post was a personal note, not a reporting update.
