Bombshell: Declassified Docs Reveals Biden FBI Spied on Barron And Melania Trump

Newly declassified records show the FBI tracked the travel plans of Melania Trump and Barron Trump while preparing its 2022 search of Mar-a-Lago. The records were released as part of disclosures involving โ€œPlasmic Echo,โ€ the federal investigation into Donald Trumpโ€™s handling of classified government documents.

Investigators wanted detailed information about when Trump and members of his immediate family would be away from the Florida property. One internal planning document instructed agents to โ€œfinalize FBI understanding of FPOTUS/FLOTUS/minor sonโ€™s travel (type of aircraft and specific timeline).โ€

Barron Trump was a minor at the time. Another internal communication indicated agents intended to execute any search warrant after Trump had left the property. โ€œAny search warrants would be served after the former President departs Mar a Lago,โ€ a June 2022 FBI document stated.

Federal agents ultimately searched Mar-a-Lago on Aug. 8, 2022. The search was part of the investigation into government documents Trump retained after leaving the White House. Agents searched Trumpโ€™s office, storage areas and other locations authorized by the warrant, recovering government records that included documents bearing classification markings.

The newly disclosed material also provides additional information about investigatorsโ€™ monitoring of Susie Wiles, a longtime Trump adviser who later became White House chief of staff. Investigators used a pen register and related tools between February and May 2023 to gather information associated with communications involving Wilesโ€™ phone.

The collected information reportedly included incoming and outgoing calls, missed calls, text-message metadata and voicemail activity.

Those records involved communications with attorneys, campaign advisers, Trump Organization personnel, political operatives and journalists.

Importantly, the surveillance concerned communications metadata rather than recordings or the contents of the conversations themselves.

The monitoring occurred during the same period that Wiles was interviewed by investigators working with special counsel Jack Smith.

She participated in an April 2023 interview with prosecutors and FBI agents in Jacksonville, Florida.

The Trump White House sharply criticized the investigative tactics after the records were released.

โ€œJack Smithโ€™s surveillance operation was a disgraceful abuse of government power. Spying on political opponents is weaponization of law enforcement, plain and simple,โ€ White House spokesperson Lauren Bis said.

โ€œThose responsible must be held accountable,โ€ Bis added.

The records also provide more information about how the classified-documents investigation was authorized inside the federal government.

Then-FBI Director Christopher Wray sought permission from Attorney General Merrick Garland in March 2022 to handle the investigation as a full โ€œSensitive Investigative Matter,โ€ according to the released documents.

Other previously disclosed records have shown disagreement inside the FBI over aspects of the Mar-a-Lago investigation.

Officials at the Washington Field Office raised questions about whether sufficient probable cause existed for a search, while Justice Department prosecutors continued pursuing the case.

The investigation later came under the authority of Smith after he was appointed special counsel in November 2022. Smith also oversaw a separate federal investigation involving Trump’s efforts surrounding the 2020 election.

The newly released Plasmic Echo records concern the classified-documents investigation and offer additional detail about the government’s preparations before the Mar-a-Lago search. They show that investigators sought information about the movements of Trump, Melania and Barron so agents could determine when to carry out the operation.

The records separately show that investigators collected Wilesโ€™ phone metadata as the federal inquiry expanded into Trumpโ€™s legal and political circle.

The disclosures are likely to intensify scrutiny in Washington over the investigative methods used during the federal cases involving Trump and his associates.
